Account & Subscriptions
Check account ownership and your current configuration first, then handle device changes and subscription updates.
Do I need an email address to get started? How should I store my account details?
No email address is required. Create an account with a username and password. Choose a username you can recognize and set a unique password, then store your account details in a trusted password manager. Since your account is not tied to an email address, don't rely on email recovery as the default option, and avoid staying signed in on public devices. Your subscription link is sensitive account information, so never post it in a public forum. If you can't access your account, check your keyboard input, capitalization and autofill first. If you still can't log in, use the help options currently available in the panel. Avoid creating accounts repeatedly, as this can make it harder to keep track of which subscription belongs to which account.
Where can I find my subscription link, and how do I update it in my client?
Sign in to get your subscription. In the user panel, open your account overview and find the subscription details, then import them using a method supported by your client. To refresh an existing configuration, use the subscription or configuration management page in the client. After updating, check that the route list appears as expected and that you're using the refreshed configuration, not an older local file. If retrieval fails, make sure the panel opens and your account is in good standing, then try again. Don't paste the link into an unfamiliar online converter or include the full link in a public screenshot. If you suspect the link has been exposed, check whether the panel offers a reset option, then update the configuration on each device.
Do I need to choose a new plan when switching devices or sharing with family?
1KVPN allows unlimited simultaneous devices, so changing devices alone doesn't require a new plan. Sign in to the user panel on the new device, get the client for your platform, then import the subscription for your account. Unlimited devices doesn't mean unlimited data, so keep an eye on your remaining balance. Clients are available after signing in on Windows, macOS, Android and Linux; eligibility for iOS is determined by the panel. For family use, the account holder should keep the password and subscription details secure rather than sharing them in public groups. When you stop using an old device, remove its subscription configuration and sign out. This limits how much account information remains on the device and makes it easier to identify where future data use comes from.
Why does my client still show old routes or fail to connect when my account has an active plan?
First, check the order, plan status and remaining data in the user panel. Then make sure the subscription currently enabled in your client belongs to the same account. A common cause is that the client is still using an old configuration or hasn't refreshed its locally saved subscription. Update the subscription, select a route again and reconnect. If the update succeeds but something still doesn't work, disconnect and re-enable the current configuration, then check whether the error changes. Reimporting or updating a configuration is not the same as paying again, and route names alone don't indicate your account entitlements. If the issue persists, open a support ticket with the panel status, client platform and error message. Redact subscription links and other sensitive account details from screenshots.
Connections & Issues
Check your local network, client configuration and target app in that order. Avoid changing everything at once.
The client says I'm connected, but websites won't load. What should I check?
Disconnect the client and check that your local network can still reach websites that normally work. Then connect to a route and test the site again. If your local network is the problem, resolve that first. If the issue happens only while connected, check that the subscription is up to date, the correct route is selected, and the system proxy or relevant traffic-handling feature is enabled. Try another route in the same region to see whether the issue is limited to one route. A connected status only confirms that the client has established a connection; it doesn't mean every app's traffic is being routed correctly. Keep other settings unchanged while troubleshooting and note the result of each adjustment. Changing rules, routes and DNS settings all at once makes the cause harder to identify.
Why does my browser work, but a particular app isn't using the proxy?
Browsers and apps may use different network paths. Some apps don't follow the system proxy, or current routing rules may send their traffic directly. First, check that the client is in the intended mode, then see whether the app or domain matches the relevant rule. If the client provides connection logs, use them to help identify where requests are going. For apps that require system-level traffic handling, follow the client's instructions and check which permissions are needed. Once configured, reopen the app so new requests use the current settings. Don't route all traffic through the same path indefinitely just to fix one app. After identifying the cause, keep a routing setup that works for everyday use.
A subscription update failed. Should I keep uninstalling and reinstalling the client?
Keep your existing configuration for now. Check that the user panel is accessible, that the subscription link was copied in full without extra spaces or line breaks, and that your account is in good standing. If the client lets you choose a network path for updating subscriptions, check that option using the client's instructions. An issue with the old route may otherwise prevent the new configuration from downloading. Don't rush to uninstall the client: you could lose local settings and useful troubleshooting clues. Make sure your account details are safely stored before moving any configuration. If you need to import again, get the current subscription from the panel rather than using an old copy from chat history. You can include the error text in a support ticket, but never attach the full subscription link.
My connection keeps dropping. What should I prepare before opening a support ticket?
First, note whether disconnections happen only on a particular network, route or after the device goes to sleep. Then check local network changes, system power-saving settings and the client's background permissions. Make sure no other network proxy tool is also handling the connection, as this can cause conflicts. In your ticket, include your platform, client name, affected app, route region and route type, along with what you were doing before and after the issue occurred. Keep any error message in its original wording to help with diagnosis. You can also say whether changing routes or networks resolved the issue, but don't assume it's an account problem. Before uploading logs or screenshots, redact passwords, subscription links and other sensitive information, and include only the parts relevant to the issue.
Speed & Routes
Compare routes by use case. Assess connection status, viewing region and actual playback separately.
Videos buffer during peak hours. How should I adjust my route?
Check whether other devices are downloading, syncing files or streaming video, then see whether the streaming platform itself is having access issues. When testing routes, keep the viewing region the same and compare other routes in that region. Focus on buffering and playback continuity instead of frequently switching catalog regions. Route type may also matter, but names such as IEPL, relay or direct don't guarantee a particular performance. Your local network and the destination service can affect the experience too. Keep playback settings similar during tests and pause unrelated high-bandwidth activity. If buffering continues, open a support ticket with your region, route type, streaming platform and the circumstances in which the issue occurs.
How should I choose between IEPL, relay and direct routes?
These terms describe how a network path is organized; they aren't a speed ranking that applies to every region and app. IEPL routes generally use dedicated cross-border links, relay routes pass through forwarding nodes, and direct routes depend more on the path between your local network and the destination region. Choose based on what you need: for streaming, check whether the platform is accessible in the target region; for work, prioritize stable sessions; for everyday browsing, consider how commonly used apps are routed. Compare route types within the same region first, then keep the one that best fits your routine. See the route selection guide for more detail. The panel shows the currently available routes.
Which regions are covered, and should I always choose the nearest route?
1KVPN covers 120+ countries / 220+ routes. Check the panel for the regions and routes currently available. Distance is a useful starting point, but not the only factor: local routing, route type and the destination service's region all affect results. For everyday browsing, try a nearby region first. For services with regional requirements, choose the relevant region and compare performance there. Coverage numbers don't mean every route is right for every app, and route names alone don't determine whether a service will work. Save preferred routes by use case, such as streaming, work or AI tools. If an issue comes up, troubleshoot within the same use case and region first.
Netflix or an AI tool reports a region issue. Will switching routes always fix it?
Not necessarily. A service may also check your account region, sign-in status, previous sessions and its own policies. Your network route is only one factor. First, make sure the selected region meets the service's requirements, then check that the client routes the service's traffic as expected. Reopen the app if needed so its connection uses the current configuration. You can compare other routes in the same region, but switching regions repeatedly may trigger additional checks. 1KVPN's network connectivity doesn't replace account eligibility, content licensing or payment requirements imposed by the service. If you need help, share the exact message and route region rather than simply saying that a platform doesn't work.
Billing & Refunds
Check your billing option and order records first. Review the Terms of Service for refund eligibility.
How much do monthly plans and data packages cost, and which should I choose?
Monthly plans: ¥9.9/month for 60GB, ¥18/month for 250GB, and ¥28/month for 500GB. Data packages: ¥158/300GB, ¥358/1000GB, and ¥658/3000GB. Data packages last until used and never expire. Monthly plan data resets each month on the activation date, making these plans a good fit for regular use when you can estimate your monthly needs. Data packages suit less predictable usage when you'd rather draw down data as needed. Consider video streaming, file transfers and shared household devices before choosing, rather than comparing prices alone. Check the pricing page for current prices and what's included, then confirm your billing option and data amount in the panel.
When does monthly data reset, and how are mid-cycle upgrades handled?
Monthly plan data resets each month on the activation date. For a mid-cycle upgrade, the price difference is prorated by the remaining days. Check the current plan, remaining data and reset schedule shown in the user panel. Don't calculate based on calendar months or assume an upgrade automatically starts a full new cycle. Before upgrading, read the order details in the panel and confirm the data amount and prorated result. Data packages last until used and never expire, so their rules differ from monthly plan resets. If the displayed result doesn't match your expectations, keep the order details and ask support to check them. Avoid placing multiple orders for different data amounts in quick succession, as this can make the situation harder to assess.
Which payment methods are supported, and what should I do if my status doesn't update after payment?
Alipay / WeChat Pay / USDT are supported. Before paying, check the plan, amount and payment method on the order in the panel, and follow the instructions on the current order page. Don't reuse payment details from an old order. If your status hasn't changed after payment, return to the order page and check whether it's still marked as pending. Then confirm that your payment record matches the current order. Don't pay again just because the page hasn't updated, and don't use whether the client connects as proof that an order was paid successfully. If you need help, open a support ticket with the order details, payment method and relevant proof of payment. Redact personal information that's not needed for verification. The panel record and follow-up review determine whether an order is complete.
How long is the refund period, and how do I request a refund?
1KVPN offers a 7-day no-questions-asked refund. Before applying, read the refund information in the Terms of Service. Then sign in to the user panel, open a support ticket, state that you're requesting a refund and provide the relevant order details and payment method. Connection troubleshooting and refund requests are separate matters; clearly explaining what you need can reduce back-and-forth. Don't include your password or full subscription link in a ticket. The Terms of Service govern refund eligibility, while ticket replies and order records show the status of your request. If you're still assessing whether the service suits your everyday needs, note your usual apps, regions and any issues, but don't overlook the refund terms while troubleshooting.
